First I would highly recommend some testing. Depending on the age of your child, the school district should have resources for you. If not, you could contact Sylvan Learning Centers, or your county Human Services Department.
Second, once you have a better idea of what is really wrong, we could move forward with a plan. Contact B Natural 715-836-7021 to set up a consultation with me. A 1 hour consultation is 60.00 and I would take a full health history.
When you start to give children medications or natural medicine to alter behavior or brain chemicals it is VERY serious. Dont take a non professional’s direction here. If you give your child a brain altering product be prepared for side affects.
A simple step you can take is stop all refined sugar intake for 14 days and see if this helps the mood swings.
Last – if this is just a emotional phase or if you have certain family history of mood swings, depression, short tempers, alcoholism, etc I can recommend natural supplements to help this child.

Bartonella is an infection that may cause a rash, enlarged lymph node(s), and malaise and fatigue that resolve over several weeks.[1,2] Many animals and insects carry this infection. Bartonella has multiple vectors and infection sources including fleas, flea feces, cat licks or scratches, ticks, lice, and biting flies.[3-6] Young stray kittens are often able to infect humans due to flea feces on their paws, or through cat scratches, bites, or licks.[7-10]

Bartonella is found in cities, suburbs, and rural locations,[11-14] and is an emerging infection. In recent decades, Bartonella research publications are increasing, but psychiatric disorders were underreported in the soldiers of World War I and World War II. For example, approximately 1 million soldiers in WWI were affected with Bartonella quintana,[15] but medical journals did not report much about its psychiatric manifestations.

In the last 15 years, 9 Bartonella bacteria have been identified that are known to infect humans: B henselae, B elizabethae, B grahamii, B vinsonii subsp. arupensis, B vinsonii subsp. berkhoffii, B grahamii, B washoensis, and, more recently, B koehlerae and B rochalimae.[16-20] Currently, the largest national laboratories offer tests for only 2 species[21-23] (B quintana and B henselae).

Some Bartonella cases have “atypical” presentations with signs or symptoms lasting more than weeks, causing diverse medical problems. For example, Bartonella can cause vision abnormalities, prolonged fever, joint pain, lung inflammation, respiratory disease, and granulomas throughout the body. It can occasionally cause abdominal pain, liver and spleen tissue abnormalities, thrombocytopenic purpura, bone infection, papules or pustules, maculopapular rashes, arthritis, abscesses,[20, 24-30] heart tissue and heart valve problems,[31-37] and neurologic illnesses.[38-42]

Traditionally, cognitive neurology has been related to some psychiatric illnesses. A search of PubMed with “Bartonella ” and the search words “depression,” “mania,” “bipolar,” “major depression,” “depression,” “anxiety,” “panic,” “panic attack,” “psychosis,” and “schizophrenia” yielded the limited journal results below:

•Depression
•Dementia
•Encephalopathy-inflamed brain
•Violent behavior
•Confusion
•Combative behavior
•Substance abuse disorders

If you have many of the above mentioned symptoms, and no one can tell you “why” you dont feel good, it may be time to get a blood test to check for any tick or flea born type illnesses.

It has come to my attention that there are websites out there promoting the use by women, and worse yet, men, to use progesterone. Here are a few symptoms of high progesterone levels. I have seen many cases of women getting ovarian cycts from using progesterone in too high of a dose for their body.
Bioidentical still isnt your hormone, and you are still adding hormone to a body that isnt producing for some reason on it’s own.
I do recommend Wild Yam to those who are trying to keep a pregnancy.
I NEVER RECOMMEND IT FOR MEN!!!!!!!! I NEVER RECOMMEND PROGESTERONE THERAPY FOR TEEN AGE GIRLS. High hormone levels are directly linked to many cancers.
Please review the symptom list below, and really think about what you are doing to your body with the added hormone, no matter if it is synthetic or bioidentical, or natural – it is still ADDING hormones to the body.

SYMPTOMS OF HIGH PROGESTERONE LEVELS

Progesterone, like all hormones, needs to be in balance in order to enjoy the benefits that proper health ensures. If a woman has too much progesterone she will suffer from a series of side-effects including fatigue, breast tenderness, bloating, mood swings, sedation, loss of libido, and vaginal dryness. Keep reading to learn more about these various symptoms of high progesterone levels, in order to seek treatment.

Fatigue
Too much progesterone can be sedating and create fatigue. Fatigue is categorized by the physical or mental weariness resulting from exertion.
Breast tenderness
Breast tenderness is the discomfort, sensitivity, and/or pain in one or both of the breasts when touch or pressure is applied.
Bloating
Excess progesterone can lead to menstrual bloating. The swelling can occur around the belly, fingers, feet, ankles etc.
Mood Swings
As progesterone is the mood leveler, a mood swing may incur as progesterone levels get too high. Symptoms of a menopausal mood swing include emotional fluctuations, irritability, sadness, and even sudden bouts of tears.
Sedation
Sedation is extreme tiredness brought about by high levels of progesterone.
Loss of Libido
If progesterone is too high, then libido (desire for sexual activity) is decreased and depression is increased. Progesterone can activate dopamine so if the ratio is right between hormones, there is an increase in the pleasure from sex.
Vaginal Dryness
Vaginal dryness can lead to discomfort during sexual intercourse. Progesterone tends to promote vaginal dryness by counteracting the effect on lubrication of estrogens.

Here are a few simple things to help your mind, body, and soul through tax time.
Rescue remedy is a flower essence blend that can be dropped or sprayed under the tongue several times per hour to cope and calm emotional stress.
Blend some lavender and orange oil together and in hale them frequently. Put a drop on each temple, your wrists, over your heart chakra.
A hot bath with 3 cups epsom salts, 2 cups baking soda, and 15 drops of your favorite essential oils will steam you and soak out the sore muscles.
Mix some distilled water with lavender essential oil, add some sweet orange oil, and some ylangylang, shake well and spray on your bed and pillow before bed.
Take either 1 B Natural L-theanine, or a GABA or a Cortisol Manager. This will help your body cope with the side affects of stress.
2-3 Sublingual B-12 under the tongue while you do paper work, or tax forms will help your short term memory, and relieve stress.

Which fish oil is right for me

“Hello Dr. Amy-My question is…How is taking fish oil beneficial to the body? How does it work? Thanks Fran”

Fish oil has been taken by Americans for many generations. In my Norwegian past my ancestors ate plenty of cold water fish and didnt need to supplement. In the current American diet we lack true, clean sources of fish oils.
Generally when someone takes fish oil they are trying to up their intake of vitamin D. This is very important not only to increase your body’s ability to uptake calcium to bone, but even more importantly there is a direct link between Vitamin D deficiency and depression. Recent studies have proved that most cancer patients are severly low in their Vitamin D.
Fish oil also provides EPA which is very important to your heart and blood stream health.
DHA is another omega naturally occuring in fish oil. DHA is the omega that helps in brain cell production. Studies have shown that children born to women taking DHA omegas during pregnancy had a higher IQ than children born to mothers that didnt supplement with DHA.
There are many research studies that show fish oils help reduce inflamation and lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
When it comes down to deciding if you should take fish oil or not, I would recommend taking one that also has plant sources of omegas. The plant sources help to balance hormone, and build healthy hair, skin, and nails.
B Natural provides many choices of omegas and we are happy to help you chose the omega that is right for your body’s needs.

The role of iodine in human nutrition is well-established – as are its deficiency diseases and the conditions to which its deficiency can contribute (i.e. goiter, cretinism, hypothyroidism, etc.) The amount of iodine necessary to void diagnosable deficiency is quite small. Below, for example, we provide the U.S. Recommended Daily Allowance for iodine in mcg.’s.
Infants 40—50
Ages 1—3 70
Ages 4—6 90
Ages 7—10 120
Age 11 older 150
Pregnant women 175
Lactating women 200
Optimally, people would get all their iodine from dietary sources: kelp, seaweed, certain types of ocean fish, and vegetables grown in iodine-rich soil — while watching their intake of iodine-inhibiting foods and drugs (see goitrogen). But many ocean-bearing iodine-rich foods are now unavailable, and agricultural farmland is increasingly iodine-deficient, leading to reduced levels of iodine in foods. Other areas, such as the Great Lakes region in the U.S., are naturally deficient in iodine — a fact that lead to the massive goiter in the 1930’s, when 40% of the people living in Michigan suffered from goiter.
In 1924, iodine was first added to table salt as a preventative measure, and by 1940, the practice was in general consumer use. Using iodized salt has, no doubt, been effective: it contains about 76 mcg. of iodine per gram. The average person consumes at least 3 grams of iodized salt daily, exceeding the RDA for iodine by 150 mcg. However, iodized salt has many other drawbacks: it contains aluminum and processing chemical residues, its overuse creates the well-documented conditions associates with high sodium intake and sodium-potassium imbalance, etc.
With treated salt’s convenient little addition to the Western diet – its integration accelerated by the explosive expansion of fast food outlets, at which table salt’s cup doth overflow, one might think we have seen the last of iodine deficiency. Hardly.
Enter “halogen displacement” and the effects of chlorine intake on the body’s small reserve of iodine. Table salt, by definition, is mostly “sodium chloride” (what chemists call a “halide” – or a halogen tied to a mineral, making it a “salt” of a halogen). Although bound to sodium, the use of table salt as a delivery vehicle for iodine ironically presents a situation where you ingest far more chlorine, which displaces iodine (as we will see in a moment) than you do the iodine itself.
You see, chlorine, which has been used extensively since 1904 to control microbes in public drinking water, belongs to the same class of elements as iodine: the “halogens” – or elements that are one step removed from the “inert elements” (or gases) because they have just one electron missing from their outer shell to make it inert (non-reactive). This makes them quite readily reactive.

The mechanism behind “halogen displacement” was probably best described by J.C. Jarvis, M.D. (Folk Medicine, Henry Holt & Co., 1958, HB, p. 136), who wrote: “The clinical activity of any one of these four halogens is in inverse proportion to its atomic weight. This means that any one of the four can displace the element with a higher atomic weight, but cannot displace an element with a lower atomic weight. For example, flourine can displace chlorine, bromine and iodine because flourine has a lower atomic weight than the other three. Similarly, chlorine can displace bromine and iodine because they both have a higher atomic weight. Likewise, bromine can displace iodine from the body because iodine has a higher atomic weight. But a reverse order is not possible. A knowledge of this well-known chemical law brings us to a consideration of the addition of chlorine to our drinking water as a purifying agent. We secure a drinking water that is harmful to the body not because of its harmful germ content but because the chlorine content now causes the body to lose the much-needed iodine…”
To counter the effects of iodine loss, Dr. Jarvis recommended various methods including: (1) Eating foods rich in iodine: food from the ocean, radishes, asparagus, carrots, tomatoes, spinach, rhubarb, potatoes, peas, strawberries, mushrooms, lettuce, bananas, cabbage, egg yolk, and onions; (2) Painting a small area of the body with tincture of iodine; and (3) taking preparations known to be rich in iodine, including cod liver oil, kelp tablets …
But he was particularly keen on the power of Lugol’s iodine, for treating various illnesses, including colds and flu, and for countering the effects of stress: “Supposing you do follow the suggestions outlined above and find that some weeks the pressures of your private and your business life are causing you to lose the ability to bounce back. Then you should add a drop of Lugol’s solution of iodine to your glass of apple or grape juice at breakfast, or you may take it in the mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. The point is that the potassium in the solution blocks off the body mechanism that organizes for aggressive action, releasing its hold on the body when opportunity for rest and relaxation arises. The iodine swings into action the body and the building up and storing of body reserves. When working under pressure, include the Lugol’s solution dose each day until the period of pressure passes. If it should happen that your body becomes saturated with iodine, you will find that there is an increase of moisture in the nose. If this occurs, omit the iodine until the nose is normal.”
Read directions thoroughly before use.

——————————————————————————–

Candida Infection

There are many reasons that the skin would show a rash. I do believe the first go around was a heat or sun poisoning rash. This time, so many months later tht just doesnt make any sense. Without seeing the rash my next best guess would be candida.
Candida is a natural occuring fungas in and on the human body. It only is a bad thing when it gets out of hand. Candida feeds on sugars and empty, white carbs it can convert to sugar. Some symptoms of candida are:
Red, bumpy rash, can be itchy, can be anywhere interior and exterior
Fatigue
Depressed mood
Achy joints and body
White tongue
Mucous problems
Slow of fast bowel issues
Headaches
Foggy Brain feeling
Yellow finger and tone nails
Craving for sugars and sweets you cant control
Mood swings

As you can see from this list there are many other conditions that have some of the same symptoms. That is always the trick. Narrow down what your body is telling you and then make an educated plan with a health care professional.
If you have candida. STOP eating sugars and whites. Fruits are OK in the morning only.
Come get my candida cleanse capsules and take 2 in the morning and 2 at bedtime for 10 days then touch base with me to check your symptom list.
Wash the area daily with colloidal silver if it is exterior and then cover is with emu oil or let air dry.
If it is itchy, you can mix three drops of tea tree, lavender, and chammomile essential oil into the emu oil and rub onto the rash area.
If this doesnt work make an appointment with me so we can take a health history and make a plan.
