Hello, I’m a 22 year old young man from Morocco. Since 1999 I’m in bigtrouble with unexplained joints pain. Until now I have seen 13 doctors, fromgeneralists to rheumatologists and internists but no one has been able tomake the diagnostic. This is how my problems began: · 1999 : knee swollen, it was my right knee and the doctor drainliquid from it. · 2000 : start feeling pain in my feet. The pain comes and goes, but since 2003 I haven’t felt that pain again. · 2002 : I start having hips pain that comes suddenly and goesafter 3 or 6 days and makes walking difficult and painful. At the beginningthe pain was just in the right hip, but now the pain comes in both hips, butnever both of them at the same time. · 2004 : My left knee swelled and I was diagnosed with rheumaticfever. · 2005 : I became seriously ill (fatigue, fever). I was tested forhepatitis B and it was positive, after months of treatment I overcame it. Now the hips pain keep coming and going and the knee swelling becomes morefrequent, in the last 12 months I have had knee swelling more than 10times. My actual doctor which is an internist think about a hereditary inflammatorydisorder, so I was tested for familial Mediterranean fever and T.R.A.P.S butboth of them came negative, I’m also taking colchicines every day butthere is no result. After doing research on the internet, I asked my doctor about Lyme disease, but he said that my symptoms are not matching with it. I ask him aboutmaking the test, so I made the serologic test of lyme, but it came negative. My doctor says that if the test is negative this mean that I don’t havelyme, but after all the research that I have done I think that I have it,especially that this disease gives a sense to all the symptoms that I have. Here is a list of all the symptoms that I have: · Knee swelling; · Hips pain; · Fingers swelling in both hands (this have start in 2007, andhappen only in winter); · Back pain; · Clavicle pain; · Chest rash; · Other rashes, look like bartonella rash but not red they look likefading rash; · Right eyelid twitching. This is not very frequent, but can happen3 or 6 times a day especially at night; · Unexplained fever; · Episodes of fatigue and tiredness; · Hepatitis B (that I overcame it). · In 2003 I have had swollen lymph nodes behind my left ear, thatsatys for weeks and then go away by itself, and never appear again. Now I feel lost, and couldn’t find a lyme specialist in my country. So do you think that my symptoms are matching with lyme? or other co-infections (like Babesiosis, Bartonella …).

With this long of a history of mystery pains, I would recommend a private consultation. We can do a telephone or skype appointment. If you chose not to become a patient of mine I would consider the following: 1. Ask for a cat scan of your body. Looking for lymph system involvement and checking the [...]

Yes – stop giving him sugars and dies. I agree this could be a food sensitivity. It could also be a reaction to dies, which both the products you gave him have in them. Once you see how he behaves without refined sugar being consumed, you could take the next step to help him. I [...]

Did you know?, Natural Medicine, Nutrition, Product

This is such a broad question there is no exact answer. Supplementation and good nutrition go hand in hand. I would recommend a consult on your eating habits, keep a food diary for 2 weeks then make an appointment for our review. A female multi vitamin that is die, wheat, and sugar free would be [...]

Hello, Dr. Amy! I have been on Effexor for almost 12 yrs to treatdepression. Recently, I started talking with my doctor about reducing themedication and possibly going off of it. My doctor agreed that this would bealright, and we started reducing the dosage from 150 mg XR to 75 mg. Istayed on the 75 mg for about 3-4 months and 6 days ago, stopped taking thedrug. I called my doctor and notified her of this and she was okay with it.During the first few days of withdrawal, I experienced nausea, cold shakes, exhaustion and crying spells. Now, I am on Day 6 and most of the sideeffects are gone except the nausea and tiredness. I also wake up in themorning itching a bit and feeling really hot and sweaty (no shakes tho). Myquestion for you is this: now that I am off of the Effexor, I really want totry and take some natural supplements that will help prevent/reduce/managemy depression. I have been doing research online and have found that fishoil, vitamin e, vitamin d, and some of the B vitamins are supposed to reallyhelp (both with withdrawal side effects from Effexor and with managingdepression) but I would feel much more comfortable if I could talk withsomeone in person or on here about it because I don’t really know the rightamounts, kinds, or dosages to take. Could you help me out? Thanks so much!!!

I’m wondering if Turmeric is a good form of Natural substance to take forinflamation? I have this in my back..and other areas of my body. I can’ttake Nsaids because I’m on Coumadin

Cancer, Natural Medicine, Product

I generally recommend Grape Seed Extract or White Pine bark for inflammation. They are both wonderful antiinflammatories, and also antioxidants. This helps the body rid itself of damaged cells. Turmeric is used for the chemical Ciurcumin. Curcumin is an antioxidant and antiinflammatory as well. This chemical inhibits insulin resistance, cancer cell proliferation and metastisis.
